| Fredfredtan says... Hello! This post will be on my trip to Bangkok with Jessica! It was a 4D3N Eat-Shop-Massage trip and basically our belated Grad trip. Jess was in the 3 years NBS course while I was on the 4 years Econs course, as such, we always talked about having our grad trips together while studying in our yr 2/3. I would ask her to wait for me and I'm so glad that our plan materialized! Traveling will either bring two people closer or further apart. And I'm really glad that this trip brought the two of us much much closer than we already are. We shared so many things about our lives and our goals and we are practically two peas in the same pod! Haha. All photo credits to Jessica! (: We flew via Jetstar to BKK and it was only a 2 hours flight. (:
Filling the tummy up first! I don't why but the Burger King at Terminal 1 only serves burger in the double extra large size! I was so full and bloated when I took my flight.
Upon arrival in Bangkok, our first stop was to our hotel. It was recommended by Aikkun who had her stay there during her Grad trip in BKK. The hotel was only a stone throwaway from the Airport Rail Link station Rachaparop, approx~100m away. It was a direct train to our station.
During our stay in BKK, we were using both the Airport Rail Link as well as the BTW Sky train. However, unlike in Singapore whereby the transfer of train is down internally in a station, in BKK, you would have to exit and re-enter since the lines are operated by different vendors. Besides the two we used frequently, there is another line operated by MRT.
The ticket was like a coin which you tap at the gantry to enter. Upon exit, simply insert the coin into the slot at the gantry. This only applies to the Airport Rail link. The BTS sky train uses a transport card.
The excited us with our transport coins on the train. It was clean and comfortable. The stations were read in Thai and in English so we had no problems in locating which station to alight.
We arrived at our hotel KC place. It was quite a nice place to stay and at a convenient location. Just behind Baiyoke Sky Hotel, so Pratunam Market was very accessible to us too. It was about 40sgd per night for a Double occupancy room.
KC Place

Walking past the crowded Pratunam market. We didn't stop to shop here because we were on our way to....
Platinum Fashion Market! The first place we ended up buying items with. Please don't get me wrong in not stopping at Pratunam Market, but we want to head there the next morning at 6am because that is when all the more fashionable stuff will be sold and at great discounts!
Tip at Platinum Fashion Mall, always remember to ask for both single piece price and wholesale price. Sometimes the difference would be quite substantial, making it really worthwhile to get a few pieces. And do ask if you can mix pieces in the store, because sometimes, they don't allow. Plus, there are 3 different sector of Platinum. Shoes can be bought at the Novotel Platinum side. For lunch, head up to the top level of Platinum. There is a food court which offers a wide range of food. Purchase of a food court card is a must and it works like a storage cash card for food purchases.
Glorious food at Platinum! We had Papaya Salad, Basil Mince Meat Rice as well as Mango Sticky Rice for desserts, and of course Thai Ice Tea. The portions were so huge and we enjoyed our food! I love love love my Thai Spicy Food!! :D
Next, we head down to Central World, which was also within walking distance from Platinum.
It was sales season in Bangkok! I was actually intending to head to Isetan over there to get my Wacoal Bras. They were so much cheaper than in Singapore, plus there was a 15% discount, so I got a few for about 20SGD each. :D I saw quite a few foreigners picking them up too. Plus if you spend above 2000THB, you will be given a form to get tax rebate which you will claim at the airport.
We ended the day with foot massage at our hotel. The massage place actually made our stay in KC place an awesome one. Our hotel doesn't provide WiFi for free, so if you want, you actually have to pay for it on a daily basis. But the massage place actually provide free WiFi to their customers. And the prices for the massages were really affordable at around 200THB for an hour of Foot or Thai Massage. Besides, they allow you to tap on their WiFi for free on other days even if you don't use their massage services! So do check them out if you are in the vicinity.

I would suggest the female masseurs actually as their strokes are more powerful than the males surprisingly! Hahaha. And the shop owners are English speaking. One of them was Alex, a young male who actually gave us a lot of tips of where to eat in Bangkok and his suggestions were so good and cheap!
Shall end my post here as I try to sort out the other photos for the trip!
By the way, check out Jessica's blog Jembakes. She does customized cakes and cupcakes!
Xoxo

Haha, I realized that my blog count visits are still jumping despite no updates on my side, and so I decided to do a really quick update before I head to sleep on my comfy bed. The cool night and my soft bed are luring me to sleep! Hahah I had just returned from Bangkok on just a few days back and I carried lots of items back! They include clothes and items I bought for my dearest Mummy for her Birthday (lotsa Naraya bags and tops for her! She loved it!), my sister (trying to get her to try more styles!) and B (bought a shirt and a couple tee! HAHA. Our very first because it was so cheap!) And of course some knick knacks and items for my graduating friends and B's family! :D This was the amount of stuff I gotten! But hey, before you start judging my buys, I just want to clarify that I had only changed $500 for my trip in Bangkok. And despite this huge amount of items, I still managed to go for 2 feet massages, 1 Thai massage, 1 set of really pretty manicure, eat w/o much consideration about costs, transportation costs to many places and bought quite a bit of snacks back. Okay, a bit of snack is an understatement considering that I gotten like 10 items or more for snacks! Haha. And you must be thinking how do I do it right? It comes down to budgeting and a really good friend (Love you Jess!). HAHA And a good eye for discounts and deals! So I'm really sorry to disappoint if you think that I probably spend like a bomb amassing these whole lot of items. And I'm really happy with getting everything I need and want with the budget that I set out with! Achievement unlocked! I will be blogging more on tips for traveling in BKK and how to amass this amount of items with a not so huge budget but still eat and shop like a boss. So stay tuned for that. Till the next time! <3 Labels: Bangkok, Bkk, Grad Trip, Naraya, Shopping |
